Baseball & Softball
During our baseball and softball units we focus on base running skills and terminology.
1st & 2nd Grades
The first and second grade students focus primarily on swinging and hitting a ball that has been pitched underhand. Hitting and pitching are the main focus during this unit. The first graders also get some experience hitting a ball off the batting tees during the first part of the year. Students also learn about base running and some ways to get a base runner out during a game.
3rd & 4th Grades
The third and forth grade students focus on game play and skill improvement. Teamwork and good sportsmanship are also encouraged. During the unit students are given the opportunity to hit underhand and overhand pitches during a game. Students are also taught the terms that are commonly associated with the games of softball and baseball.
