Dear AW Junior High Parents:
Tomorrow, Thursday, March 16, 2023, Anthony Wayne Junior High School will participate in a scheduled lock-down safety drill as a part of our regular District safety procedures. Our staff and the administrative team will conduct these exercises in cooperation with our local law enforcement personnel.
The procedures and responses that our students and staff will practice follow our district emergency response plans, and during this drill, several law enforcement vehicles will be present on our campus.
About School Safety Drills
We conduct fire drills, tornado drills and other school safety scenarios throughout the school year to allow staff and students to practice safety procedures and learn the response expectations in the event of an emergency. Our priority is student and staff safety and supporting any emotional responses to these drills. If you feel we can further assist your child(ren) during these drills, please contact us at the school.
Talk with Your Child
You can help keep our school safe by talking with your child(ren) about appropriate responses to aggressive and dangerous situations. In addition to “see something, say something,” at school, we encourage you to also talk about how to respond and stay safe during any dangerous situation in a public location. To assist in these conversations, feel free to utilize the resources below.
