AWLS Food Service Department Earns Recognition

The Anthony Wayne Local Schools Food Service Department was named a 2021-22 Breakfast and Beyond Super Star from the Ohio School Breakfast Challenge.

The District was recognized for excellence, innovation and collaboration in maximizing student participation and access to school meal programs, ensuring students are well fed and ready to learn.

"Staff have taken extra steps to ensure students are offered fresh fruits and vegetables along with hot and cold entrees that are colorful, flavorful and appealing," said Megan Menchaca, AWLS Food Service Director. "We have overcome supply chain challenges by being as resourceful and creative as possible while still maintaining a quality meal experience for our students."

The School Breakfast Challenge is sponsored by The Ohio Department of Education, American Dairy Association Mideast, Children’s Hunger Alliance and Ohio School Nutrition Association.
