Dear Anthony Wayne Local Schools Stakeholders,
I’m pleased to announce that, pending Board of Education approval, Dr. Kevin Pfefferle has been selected as the next Assistant Superintendent of Anthony Wayne Local Schools.
Dr. Pfefferle has been a valued member of our district since 2002, when he was first hired as a seventh grade science teacher. He later served as the assistant principal/athletic director and principal of AW Junior High School before assuming his current role of principal of Anthony Wayne High School, a position he has held for the past nine years. Dr. Pfefferle also coached basketball and soccer during his time with the District.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Defiance College, a Master’s in Education Administration from Bowling Green State University and a Doctor of Education degree from The University of Toledo.
Throughout his time with us, Dr. Pfefferle has demonstrated a deep commitment to student success, staff collaboration and community involvement.
The selection process for this position was rigorous and we appreciate the participation of our certified, classified and administrative staff who served on the interview committee during such a busy time of year. Sixteen individuals applied for the position, with the top six candidates receiving interviews. Four were interviewed in a second round, and two finalists were asked to create and give a presentation, giving the committee insight into each candidate’s educational philosophy, leadership style and overall vision for the District.
Dr. Pfefferle emerged as the top choice and we are confident that he will continue to bring his collaborative spirit, student-centered decision making and commitment to academic excellence to his new role.
The recommendation to hire Dr. Pfefferle as the Assistant Superintendent will be on the agenda for the May 12 Board of Education Meeting. Once approved, we will immediately begin to search for a new individual to lead Anthony Wayne High School.
