Dear Seniors and Families,
We are so proud of all you have accomplished during your time at AWHS and look forward to celebrating graduation with you on Saturday, May 31. As you close out your time as a student at Anthony Wayne Local Schools, we have a few important reminders and key dates to share with you. Please also see below for key dates and a final pre-graduation checklist.
REMINDERS FOR OUR GENERALS
Attendance still matters.
The whereabouts of our students, ensuring their safety, and promoting the perseverance to finish strong are our priorities. Skipping class and leaving the building before scheduled creates a significant safety concern. Seniors are expected to be in class through their last day on May 28.
General Expectations
Even in these final days of your time with us at AWHS, we want to reinforce and promote the high expectations we have of our Generals. As students and parents, you have worked extremely hard to reach this important milestone. Please know that we take any school day interruptions or property violations that result from inappropriate behavior seriously. Therefore, any activities or actions that could be considered a “senior prank” are highly discouraged and may result in disciplinary action and/or fees associated with property damage and expenses incurred by the school district, such as employee/custodial expenses, contractor costs, and additional law enforcement surveillance of school property. Please understand the potential consequences of these types of activities.
Final Exams
The last school day for seniors who do not have to take final exams is on Friday, May 23. Seniors who need or want to take final exams will report to school on Tuesday, May 27, and May 28. Seniors should speak with their teachers and the building administration about having to take final exams or not. Seniors and finals exemption criteria include:
No major infractions of the student code of conduct
Zero unexcused absences in the 4th quarter for that class period
No missing assignments in that class
Quarter 3 and quarter 4 grades average to a passing grade
Students are permitted to take the final if they wish to improve their grade for the semester.
PRE-GRADUATION CHECKLIST

UPCOMING SENIOR EVENTS
Senior Picnic: Thursday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m.
Several parents will host a picnic lunch and activities for the senior class. Students, please be sure to thank these volunteers for providing this social gathering for you.
Senior Breakfast, Graduation Practice & Last Day of School for Seniors: Friday, May 30 at 7:45 a.m.
This is a required event for you to walk at Commencement. You must check in with your counselor in the main gym lobby at the high school and ride the bus to and from the Stroh Center.
Commencement: Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. - Stroh Center at BGSU.
The graduation ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. Doors will open to families and guests at 9:00 a.m. There is open seating, and the event is open to the public. No tickets are necessary.
Graduation will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person.
Hang your robe to de-wrinkle now.
On graduation day: Report to the Schmidthorst Pavilion at the Stroh Center at 9:15 a.m.
Do not decorate your mortarboard, and please only wear school-issued regalia and/or cords.
Please dress appropriately. White/light-colored clothing is recommended under white robes.
