Anthony Wayne Families,
With nearly every social issue, school districts find themselves facing difficult conversations and challenging decisions. A quick Google search will show you that Anthony Wayne Schools is not alone in the debate over individual rights as they relate to transgender students' access to school restrooms and locker rooms, overnight accommodations for school trips and other gender-related situations.
As the Anthony Wayne Board of Education, we wish to thank those community members who chose to share their points of view with us at Monday’s meeting, through emails and phone calls. Board members are elected to serve as liaison between the school district and community, and your feedback helps us understand your thoughts and feelings about our schools.
Please know that we are working diligently to gather as much information as possible to make an informed decision. We have heard from parents and community members, researched other school districts’ procedures, and reviewed legal counsel. We appreciate the assistance Dr. Fritz has provided when we have requested information.
We acknowledge our community’s desire for a swift response from the Board, and are reviewing and thoughtfully considering all of the information we have received. We ask for your patience as we continue to work toward a solution.
