London Colletti-Heil and Josie Parker, both 8th-grade students at Anthony Wayne Junior High, recently garnered recognition in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a highly competitive platform celebrating young artists and writers.
Approximately 900 students submitted their work in the regional competition hosted by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Josie Parker earned an honorable mention for her outstanding work of fiction. Meanwhile, London Colletti-Heil not only secured a Silver Key Award, but also earned the coveted Juror's Choice Award, adding an element of surprise and distinction to her accomplishment.
Both girls were encouraged to apply by their creative writing teacher, Mr. Jim Bolone.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards aim to identify and showcase students with exceptional artistic and literary talents, providing them with opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.
