Anthony Wayne Local Schools yesterday announced a new program designed to help students discover how their interests and talents align with future careers at a press conference held at Anthony Wayne High School. The AW Generals Network will connect K-12 students to employers, recruiters, organizations and educational institutions, with the goal of providing them with opportunities for career awareness, exploration and planning.
“Our goal is to expose students to as many different employment, enrollment and education opportunities as possible so they are empowered to make informed decisions about their futures,” said Stephanie Buckenmeyer, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Career Development. “The AW Generals Network will provide grade- appropriate career awareness, exploration and planning opportunities ranging from field trips and classroom speakers to mentorship and co-op employment experiences.”
This announcement took place in conjunction with Anthony Wayne High School’s annual In-Demand Jobs Day and Career Fair. AHWS seniors had the opportunity to meet with nearly 70 employers, recruiters and college representatives to practice networking and interview skills and learn more about local opportunities available upon graduation.
The AW Generals Network will serve to bolster the District’s mission to empower students to be
future ready. These partnerships help to advance the
district’s strategic planning goals related to student learning, resources for student success and
community engagement.
Members of the AW Generals Network serve as liaisons between the classroom careers, raising
awareness of the types of employment opportunities that await students after graduation. They
benefit from working directly with eager students ready to discover how their interests and
talents align with in-demand jobs in our community.
