Dear Anthony Wayne Stakeholders,

We want to inform you that we are aware of a social media post involving a potential stranger danger situation in our community. The post describes a woman who approached a child who was waiting for the bus near Berkey-Southern and Waterville-Swanton Roads. She was accompanied by someone driving a black van with dark windows.

The situation was reported to law enforcement, and we are also on alert. If you notice any suspicious activity involving a vehicle matching this description, please contact the police or sheriff’s department.

Please talk with your children about the importance of being cautious and aware of their surroundings. Here are a few helpful reminders:

  • Never talk to a stranger.
  • Never get into a car with someone without permission from a parent.
  • Use the buddy system: walk/bike/play together in groups of two or more.
  • If approached by someone, tell an adult.
  • Always report suspicious people or activity to parents, teachers, or the police.

If you see any situation that seems unsafe, please contact our local police departments. In the case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1. Thank you for helping to keep our students and community safe.
