Greetings Anthony Wayne Junior High Families,
Welcome to April! As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, April 8th due to the Solar Eclipse. All students received glasses during HomeBase this week. You can learn more about the solar eclipse here: https://ema.ohio.gov/media-publications/ohio-total-solar-eclipse.
Next week begins our Ohio State Tests on Tuesday. Please make sure your student has a well-charged body and Chromebook! It is always important that students get a good night’s rest and a nutritious breakfast. Please remind your student to plug in their Chromebook in the evening so that it is charged and ready to be used.
Ohio State Test Dates
- ELA Testing (ELA 7 & 8, ELA II): April 9 & 11
- Math Testing (Math 7, Math 8, Algebra I, Geometry): April 16 & 18
- Science Testing (Science 8, Biology): April 23 & 25
Career Exploration
Students will be participating in various career exploration opportunities this spring. In order to complete these activities, they will need to have their YouScience activities complete. Most students completed these during HomeBase or Academic Assist. Students missing any YouScience activities were assigned their missing work in Google Classroom on April 4th. Please check your student’s Class of 2029 or Class of 2028 Google Classroom. This assignment could be completed at home, potentially on Monday, prior to the eclipse.

Ohio Military Family Spirit Week
April is the month of the military child, so let’s paint the town purple! The week of April 15th, we will be holding a spirit week in honor of our military families:
- Monday, April 15th: Purple Up! Day
- Wednesday, April 17th: Support your favorite military branch
- Friday, April 19th: Wear R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed)
