AWHS Art Student Selected for Purdue University Exhibition

Anthony Wayne sophomore art student, Carly Hemmelgarn had two pieces accepted into the Annual High School Exhibition at Purdue University. The show includes a selection of artwork from high schools from across the region.

This is the second year that Carly has had work appear in the show, and her 2021 selected drawing Monochrome Disco is currently featured on the PFW Department of Art and Design's website.

"Carly was very impressive as a freshman art student last year in Mr. DeKay's class, where she was nominated as the November 2021 student of the month," said Carrie Flagg, AWHS art teacher. "She is equally impressive with the quality of the art she is doing in my 2D Design class. She is very motivated and proactive in finding opportunities to enter her art in juried exhibitions."

The exhibition is open through November 11 in the Visual Arts Gallery on the Purdue Fort Wayne Campus. Gallery hours are 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
