Instructions for Using the Property Tax Estimator Tool

Anthony Wayne Local Schools has a 2.6-mill Bond Issue and a 2.9-mill Operational Levy on the November 7 ballot. The bond issue is intended for facilities maintenance and improvements, and the operational levy funds the day-to-day operations of the District. More information about how these funds will support the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our facilities is available at www.anthonywayneschools.org/Levies.

How much will it cost me?

Both of these requests are property taxes, and one of the most common questions we hear is, “How much will it cost me if these levies pass?” This is a very valid question and the District wants you to be as informed as possible.

District Treasurer, Kerri Johnson has collaborated with the Lucas County Auditor’s Office to place a Levy Estimator Tool on the auditor’s website that will provide you with tax information for your specific property. The amount provided by the estimator is based on the valuation of your property as determined by the Auditor’s Office for tax collection purposes. It is available to every property owner in the District.

How to View the Estimated Levy Cost for Your Property

  1. Go to the Lucas County Auditor’s website: https://co.lucas.oh.us/331/Auditor

  2. Click on AREIS in the left-hand column of the page on a computer (or the AREIS property search icon on a mobile device).

  3. Search for your property by address, owner name or parcel number.

  4. Once you have identified your property, click on LEVY ESTIMATOR in the left-hand column of the page.

Section 1 - Proposed Levy Details: You will see the proposed levy details. Click the right arrow in the blue header box to see the second levy. The full ballot language is also available in this section.

Section 2 - Proposed Levies Summary: You will see a summary of costs per year for your property for the bond issue and operational levy.

A few important items to note when using the levy estimator:

  • Your current school taxes include a bond issue that will expire in 2025. The estimator does not take this into account. Your estimated tax responsibility will actually be lower than shown by the estimator when the previous bond issue expires in 2025. You can view your current taxes under the “tax distribution” tab on the AERIS site.

  • Your property’s value for tax purposes is determined by the county auditor. This number is typically lower than the estimated sale price of your home. You can see this value for your property on the “values” tab on the AREIS site. Your values will be different from the example below.

How will the funds be used?

Information about how the funds generated by the bond issue and operational levy would be used in the District are available on the website at www.AnthonyWayneSchools.org/Levies.

I encourage you to use the estimation tool to determine your tax responsibility, and to share it with others who may not receive this message so they may also make an informed decision this November. Many thanks to the Lucas County Auditor’s Office for providing this service for property owners.
