AWHS Seniors Named Art & Music Student of the Month

The Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission recognizes the achievements of AWHS art and music students through its Art & Music Students of the Month program. 
 
The program is designed to honor outstanding visual arts and performing arts/music students and encourage them in their artistic and performance endeavors. Chosen students receive a certificate of honor and gift cards to local businesses from AWAAC.  The program is funded through a generous grant from the Waterville Community Foundation.

May Visual Art Student of the Month: Kaytlin Carlson
Kaytlin Carlson is a student at Anthony Wayne High School who lives in Whitehouse. Kaytlin shares, “I enjoy creating jewelry and ceramics at school. I also enjoy singing, cooking, and reading.” Looking toward her future, Kaytlin states “I plan to go to BGSU to study marine biology and become a marine biologist. Kaytlin has had artwork chosen for the annual Anthony Wayne District Art Show and was in the 2019 production of Frozen Jr. She is the daughter of Stefanie Schaffer.
 
May Music Student of the Month: Danielle Kistner
Danielle Kistner is a student at AWHS from Whitehouse. Music is a big part of her life, and she shares, “I love music because it allows you to communicate so many things. I also love it because it doesn't matter who you are, you can enjoy music. It has given me so many opportunities and given me so many of my friends, I can't imagine my life without music.”

 Throughout her high school years, Danielle has been quite active in music competitions and events. She has participated in four OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, three OMEA district contests, four OMEA state contests and four years at the OMTA contest. In addition, she has been part of multiple musical groups including three years of jazz band, four years of pep band, four years of marching band, separate concert bands, two choirs, and three musicals.
