Election Day Follow Up

November 8, 2023

Anthony Wayne Community,

Thank you to each of you who took the time to vote in this election cycle. Your voice is vital to shaping our community and your dedication to civic duty is appreciated. This letter will provide you with the unofficial results of the ballot items related to Anthony Wayne Local Schools, along with the next steps related to each.

AWLS Board of Education
Lindsay Hoipkemier and Shellie McKnight were elected and Jeff Baden was re-elected to serve on full terms on the Board through December 31, 2028. Mike Stamm was elected to the partial-term member seat and will serve through December 31, 2025.

They will begin their terms to serve with current board member, Kyle Miller effective January 1, 2024.

Issue 12: Proposed 2.6-mill Bond Issue and Issue 13: Proposed 2.9 mill Operational Levy
Voters did not approve the proposed Bond Issue for facilities improvements or the Operational Levy for day-to-day expenses. Once sworn in, the new Board of Education will need to determine what steps the District will take to address the facility needs of the District and the overall services provided to students, parents, and the community.

The administration will continue to address the continual facility maintenance items and seek additional cost saving measures until otherwise directed by the Board.

The District is committed to achieving the goals of its Strategic Plan in pursuit of fulfilling its mission to empower students to be future ready. We will continue to work collaboratively with our community to ensure that AW students receive an excellent education and that the District remains among the best in the state.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Fritz, Superintendent
Anthony Wayne Local Schools
