Student Mental Health and the Holidays

December 19, 2023

Dear AW Campus Families,

As we approach the holiday season, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of mental health and well-being for our students and families. The holiday season can be a time of joy, but it can also bring added stress and challenges. In light of this, we want to share resources and encourage open conversations about mental health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided valuable information on mental health, and we would like to draw your attention to their Mental Health Handout, which offers practical tips and guidance. This handout covers a range of topics, from managing stress to fostering resilience, and can be a valuable resource for both students and parents.

Here is the link to the CDC Mental Health - Coping with Stress Handout.

We encourage you to review this handout as a family and consider incorporating some of the suggestions into your holiday routines. Additionally, we want to remind you of the importance of open communication about mental health. If you notice any signs of stress or changes in behavior in your child, please take the time to talk with them and, if necessary, reach out to a mental health professional.

Remember that the holiday season can bring a mix of emotions, and it's okay to ask for help or support if needed. Our school community is here to provide assistance and resources, and we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels supported.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your school counselor. Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday season.

Sincerely,
