AWHS FCCLA Takes Center Stage at State Leadership Conference

This past Thursday and Friday, April 24–25, students from Anthony Wayne High School’s FCCLA chapter traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the 2024 State Leadership Conference, held at Kasich Hall at the Ohio Expo Center. This annual event—the largest FCCLA gathering in the state—brings together members from across Ohio to participate in career development competitions, leadership training, service learning and networking.

Our students represented AWHS with excellence, and we’re excited to share their incredible accomplishments:

National Qualifiers – 1st Place Winners:

  • Diana Beach – Focus on Children

  • Aliza Boerest – Sustainability Challenge

  • Alea Kiechle – Event Management

  • Madeline Johnston – Career Investigation

  • Makenna Rinehart – Teach or Train


Ashlynn Jacobs, Foster Thompson and Aradhya Muthumula were honored for completing an Online Project and qualified to attend Nationals.

2nd Place Winners – also Advancing to Nationals:

  • Skylar Smelley – Recycle & Redesign

  • Amelia Bailey – Professional Presentation


Leadership Spotlight:

  • Grant Hubley, AWHS Junior is currently serving as the 2024-2025 National FCCLA First Vice President, delivered a powerful 25-minute keynote address on “Servant Leadership” to an audience of over 1,000 people.

  • Aradhya Muthumula, AWHS Junior successfully ran for a State Executive Council position and was elected President of the Ohio FCCLA State Council. She will lead the state program during the 2025-26 school year.

These students have devoted much of their school year to developing and fine-tuning their projects, and their hard work paid off. Nationals will take place this July in Orlando, Florida.

FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for Family and Consumer Sciences students. Through FCCLA, members build lifelong skills in character development, critical thinking, communication, and career readiness.

Anthony Wayne High School FCCLA is a satellite program of Penta Career Center and is led by Family and Consumer Science teacher and advisor, Mrs. Amanda Valdez.
