Anthony Wayne Junior High students, Makenzie Sprenger and Ellie Cherolis received recognition for their creative writing submissions to the 2023 Scholastic Writing Awards of Northwest Indiana and Northwest Ohio. Ellie received an honorable mention for her short story entitled Sunday Mornings on White Oak Lane and Makenzie's diminutive novel, Journey to the Lost Fortune received the Gold Key Award. Makenzie's novel will advance to the National Adjudication in New York City.
