VIDEO: Celebrating International Dot Day

First and second graders in Heidi Love's art classes at Whitehouse Primary School are celebrating International Dot Day by creating a collaborative mural featuring a unique dot made by each student.

They first read a book titled, "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds that tells the story of Vashi, a student inspired to create her own masterpieces by simply starting with a single dot on a page. The students then explored patterns by choosing shapes to outline their art, and added their own personal touches. They learned that no piece of art is complete with out a signature, and added their name to their dot. Finally, their finished pieces were hung together to form a colorful ribbon of dots - celebrating the beauty of individuality and collaboration to create something beautiful.

International Dot Day is Friday, September 15.
