April 4, 2025
Anthony Wayne High School Families,
As we begin the fourth quarter of the school year, it is hard to believe that we are in the final stretch of the 2024-2025 school year. Soon we will begin State testing, AP testing, Prom and After-prom, Finals exams, and then before we know it, we will celebrate our Class of 2025 with their graduation ceremony. I want to share my continued thanks and gratitude for your partnership with AWHS this year. We are eager for an excellent fourth quarter, and please pay close attention to upcoming communications, changing schedules (due to testing), and celebratory events for our students and families. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kevin Pfefferle
Testing Season is Here
Our State Testing is set to take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between April 14 - May 1. Students who must report for testing must do so from 7:45 - 9:45 a.m. It is crucial that students who are required to test are in attendance, on time, and prepared for the day. The tests will begin promptly at 7:45. Please watch for an important communication with more information early next week.
Urgent! Senior Events Volunteers are Needed Parents are needed to help with planning, volunteer sign-up, and donations for the senior picnic and breakfast. You are encouraged to follow the Anthony Wayne Class of 2025 Senior Parents Facebook page for information and announcements. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cori Ferrington at [email protected] or Brooke Moser at [email protected] for information and answers to your questions.
Senior Final Transcript, Data, & Scholarship Notification Survey Due April 25
It is time for EVERY senior to fill out the Senior Final Transcript, Data & Award Survey. Seniors were emailed links to the survey this week, and they can also find it in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom. The information students provide will tell us about their awards and their intended plans after graduation. This includes where the counseling office should send final transcripts. The deadline for completing the survey is Friday, April 25. More information for parents is available on the Class of 2025 webpage.
Mock Crash Scenario
We want to emphasize the importance of student safety, especially during milestone events such as prom and graduation. As part of our commitment to raising awareness about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving, we are hosting a "Mock Crash" event for our students on April 28. This will be a simulated auto accident with student volunteers and a realistic police response from our local law enforcement and emergency services departments. While this is a staged event, it may be intense for some students. Expect lights and sirens on Campus that morning.
Juniors and Seniors: SAVE THE DATE - Prom & After Prom
AWHS Prom is from 7:00 - 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Parkway Place in Maumee. After Prom is at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. Transportation is provided. Students will depart via bus from AWHS at 11:30 p.m. They will be at the waterpark from 1:00 - 4:00 a.m., returning to AWHS via bus with an expected arrival time of 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. More information will be available as the date approaches.
We need assistance in making this event a success. Please consider signing up to chaperone the trip to Kalahari: After Prom Chaperone, and/or donating funds or prizes to help make the event enjoyable and safe for our students.
Juniors Only: Field Trip
On Wednesday May 7th all Juniors will attend JA Inspire from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Seagate Center in Downtown Toledo. JA Inspire is an event that engages 11th & 12th grade students in hands-on, experiential exhibits with local companies, exposing students to career opportunities available, creating connections, and helping to inspire them toward a pathway for future success. Students will be bussed to the event at 8:30 a.m. and will return to campus at approximately 11:30 a.m. For more information on the event please visit https://www.jainspirenwo.org/home
