Year-End Safety Reminders

May 1, 2024

Whitehouse Parents,
We are excited to share these final four weeks of the year with you and our students.  We ask for your support in following the safety procedures and guidelines that are in place to ensure that all of our students and staff are as safe as possible.

Pick Up and Drop Off:
  • Parents arriving on campus via a car at the beginning and end of the day should utilize our car line and tag system.  (A tag is not needed to drop a student off.)
  • Please DO NOT park in the staff lot and walk your child up to the doors or pick them up from that location.  This slows down and complicates our dismissal and arrival process.
  • It is not too late to call the office and request a car tag.  We are happy to replace a lost tag, or issue a second tag for a family.  We re-use car tags year after year.  Please be sure to save your tag when the school year ends if you have a returning student.
  • Car line vehicles are asked to pull close to one another to allow as many vehicles as possible to park on campus.
  • Please use extreme caution when pulling out and around other vehicles while in the car lane.
  • If at all possible, students should exit from the passenger side of the car.
  • Please try to have your child ready to exit your vehicle as you arrive on campus. This keeps our line moving and efficient.
  • Only parents who are walking or biking to school should approach the main doors at dismissal.
  • Dismissal arrangements should be communicated to your child’s teacher at the beginning of the day, or to the office via a phone call during the day.  Last minute dismissal changes should be avoided whenever possible.
  • Please DO NOT bring any family pets on campus.  Even the friendliest pet can scare children not accustomed to them.  The rush of 500 children leaving the building can startle a pet, and lead to an unfortunate situation.
  • Students are not supervised until the doors open at 8:30 a.m. Parents should not leave students unsupervised at the front doors.  Staff will open front doors to the building every day promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Visiting the Building:
  • Some events at the end of the year are ones where guests will remain outside throughout.  In these instances, we may not ask everyone to sign in when coming to school.
  • If you are coming into the building for any reason, you will be asked to sign in at the office and get a visitors badge.  Please support us with these efforts and arrive a few minutes early so we can sign in all guests.
  • Please read communication about different events carefully to help us maintain a safe environment on our campus.

Thank you for your support so we can have a great last four weeks of school.
