February Letter to Families

Friday, February 3, 2023

Anthony Wayne Families,

February is a short month, but there is no shortage of activity across the District! Our classrooms are bustling with learning activities, our winter sports teams are enjoying success and our music and fine arts programs are well represented by our students chosen for regional events.

I hope to see you at one of our many upcoming activities! Please check the District website for the latest news and upcoming events.

Board of Education Meeting: Monday, February 6
The Anthony Wayne Board of Education will meet at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Administrative Office. Meetings are also streamed live on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person. The Board will hear from The Collaborative, who will present the results of their facilities assessment.

Facilities Survey
Earlier this week, the District sent a communication requesting your input on the current and future facilities needs. Your input is important to us as we begin to create a Facilities Master Plan to guide the District for the next several years. Please click here to complete the survey by February 16.

National School Counseling Week: February 6-10
Our team of school counselors works hard to ensure that our students are future ready by creating programs that help them meet their academic, personal/social and career goals. We are very fortunate to have a team of outstanding school counselors passionate about supporting students and their families and thank them for their dedicated service.

No School: Monday, February 20
There is no school for students in recognition of the Presidents Day holiday.

Testing Season
Please watch for spring testing information to be shared with you from your child’s school and make every effort to avoid planned absences during this time. Testing dates are also available on the District events calendar.

Staffing Changes
High School counseling secretary Sandy Parker retired on January 31 after 25 years of service with the District. AWHS attendance secretary, Laura Lochtefeld will assume Sandy’s role and AWJH attendance secretary, Becky Bethel will take on the AWHS attendance role. Matt Dick has also chosen to retire, effective March 31 after serving as the Operations Director for 25 years. We thank Sandy and Matt for their dedicated service and wish them well in their retirement!

Thank you for being a part of our school community!

Sincerely,
Dr. Jim Fritz, Superintendent
