Good afternoon Anthony Wayne Families,
This message is a follow up to the letter we sent in August regarding the staffing shortages affecting the District’s Transportation Department. We regret to inform you that the continued lack of applicants for permanent and substitute bus drivers may have additional impacts on your child’s bus transportation.
The District continues to be very short-staffed, and is working hard to try and overcome these challenges. Every available certified driver, including the Transportation Director and Transportation Secretary have been filling routes as needed to ensure that all routes are covered.
However, driver illness and other unforeseen circumstances may result in last-minute changes to your child’s school transportation. Potential issues may include:
AM routes being combined with late or no advanced notice.
PM routes being combined with late or no advanced notice.
Extra curricular trips may be delayed or canceled.
Transportation office staff may be driving and unable to answer calls during route times.
There may be other route changes implemented in the coming weeks. Watch your email for further communication.
Thank you for your continued patience. We are actively and urgently seeking individuals to apply to be bus drivers. If you are able, please consider applying for one of these positions. CDL training can be provided for those who do not currently have the license. Please contact Dr. Brad Contat, Human Resources Director at 419-877-5377 or apply online today.
Thank you for understanding,
Dr. Jim Fritz, Superintendent
Tammy Tapley, Transportation Director
