Seventh and eighth graders in the Anthony Wayne Junior High STEM in Society class look for ways to address observed problems or needs in society, using Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts.
Through a project-based learning (PBL) approach, students work collaboratively and independently to create solutions using hands-on experimentation through the design process to design, plan, test and refine models and prototypes.
Collaboration and communication, a learner's mindset, critical thinking and empathy are key skills developed through the process of working together to explore new solutions to everyday problems.
