Whitehouse Primary School was awarded a $17,000 grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation to provide ongoing training for staff as they work to identify and address student barriers to learning.
“Over the last several years, we have seen an increase in the number of students who need extra support to be successful in the classroom,” said Brad Rhodes, Whitehouse Primary Principal.
The grant will fund professional development training for teachers to learn instructional strategies that promote positive student behavior, increased engagement and deeper learning.
“We are blessed to have many people who care deeply for students and fully embrace the attitude of being lifelong learners,” Rhodes said.
“Staff requested additional training to increase their knowledge about well-being and how to adapt their teaching methods to ensure that all students have a solid educational foundation, Rhodes said.”
The funding that Whitehouse Primary will receive is part of the nearly $460,000 in grants awarded in March by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation to Ohio PK-12 public school districts and 501 c 3 organizations that partner with these schools.
