Caring for Your Chromebook

District-owned Chromebooks are provided to students in grades 5-12. Students are permitted to take their device home each day during the school year, as well as during breaks and summer vacation. It is important that students handle their Chromebooks with care to ensure that they stay in good working order.

Report damage to your child's school office

Reporting Inappropriate Use / Restricting Student Access

Contact the Technology Director.

Reporting Unlawful Device Use

Contact your local police department, then call the Superintendent.

Reporting a Stolen Device

If a device is stolen, a police report must be provided to the AWLS Technology Department in order to replace it. Without a police report, families will be charged the full replacement cost of the Chromebook.

Common Chromebook Concerns

My Chromebook won't turn on. What should I do?

Rapidly take your hand and run it over all of the keys on the keyboard a number of times, and then try to turn the Chromebook on again. This might do the trick.

My Chromebook was stolen. What should I do?

If your Chromebook was stolen, you will need a police report in order to activate the Chromebook Protection Plan and limit your financial liability. If you simply lose a device, that is considered negligence and is not covered under the Chromebook Protection Plan.

My Chromebook is broken. What should I do?

Please take your broken Chromebook to your building's repair area (usually the main office or media center) and ask for a loaner while our technology team repairs your device.
