Clubs and Activities

Art Club
Art Club members have the opportunity to promote visual arts by creating, viewing, displaying and contributing to the school and community and  participating in various activities, including creating and displaying art, volunteering and collaborating with other clubs and local organizations.

Book Club
The Anthony Wayne High School Book Club (a.k.a. the AW Reading Squad) inspires students to read books outside the school's curriculum, develop communication skills and generate discussion about books ranging from the classics to modern day fiction and nonfiction and international writers.

Chess Club
Chess club students get together to play chess to compete and to have fun. The group also plays euchre, spoons and other card and board games. All skill levels are welcome, student-led and student-centered. Google Classroom Code: 7my4p7a.

Close Harmony
As Anthony Wayne High School's top vocal ensemble, Close Harmony represents AWHS at community events and contests across Northwest Ohio. The small group of auditioned singers performs a variety of music, with specialization in pop a capella. 

DECA
DECA is a co-curricular organization that combines classroom instruction in business, marketing and management with opportunities to compete, connect to business, be involved in the community and develop communication skills. Students must be a junior or senior enrolled in one of the DECA Business or Marketing classes to participate.

Drama Club
Open to all AW students with an interest in theater, Drama Club centers around the preparation and performance of theatrical arts in many forms. Theater games, activities and information on how to participate in AW's productions are typical meeting topics. Come hang out with students who love theater as much as you do!

Environmental Awareness Club
This club works to create awareness and educate students about environmental issues, including protection, preservation, conservation and restoration, and empower them to help protect our natural world. Students focus on campus and community clean-ups, school recycling and community outreach and service.

Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
FCCLA members will strengthen skills, forge friendships and make a positive difference in today's world through participation in competitive events, serving in leadership positions, attending conferences, networking and attaining college and career-ready skills. FCCLA is integrated into Family and Consumer Sciences education and exposes students to work-based learning and industry experiences.

FFA
Formerly known as Future Farmers of America, FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

French Club
French Club is open to all current and former AW French students. Our activities center around French culture and sharing it with members and the school as a whole. We organize National French week activities in the fall, celebrate French holidays, play French games, try out French food and design the annual French department tee-shirt.

German Club
Students enrolled in German language class meet to experience German culture, whether making and eating German food, watching German movies, etc. Each year, the students paint the Spirit Rock and decorate parts of the school to celebrate German-American Week.

LINK Crew
LINK aims to ease freshmen in their transition into high school through a first day of school orientation program. Junior and senior LINK leaders work to build relationships with students, answer their questions and encourage them to make the most of their experience at AWHS. 

National Honor Society
Open to AWHS Seniors, National Honor Society is a service organization whose members are leaders in the school and community who want to take their service to the next level. They are also high achievers in academics, demonstrating they can be involved in a wide variety of activities while still keeping up with their schoolwork.

Quiz Bowl
Studnets practice and compete answering questions from many different areas: art, music, science, literature, popular culture, history and mathematics. The players meet every week towards the beginning of the year, then bi-weekly. The team plays against other area schools both at AW and away.

Spanish Club
Spanish Club is a group of Spanish language students that meet once or twice a month to discuss or celebrate some aspect of Hispanic culture or the Spanish language.

Student Council
Student Council is a student run organization that plans, promotes and executes student-centered events to promote school spirit and involvement. Representatives also participate in collaborative leadership events with other school districts and lead community service projects throughout the year. Contact: [email protected]

Video Game Club
Video Game Club creates an environment that allows students to join together on the common interest of video games/gaming development as well as provide those that wish to compete and earn scholarships the opportunity to do so.
