Our slogan at Fallen Timbers Middle School is "Your Place To Shine." We truly believe that everyone can reach their full potential at Fallen Timbers, and we strive to create a culture where students are excited to come to school and are ready to learn.
Our School Community
FTMS is the starting point of community cohesion where approximately 675 students in grades 5-6 come together for the first time to enhance foundational academic knowledge, cultural and social awareness and physical skills. Most FTMS students previously attended Waterville, Whitehouse or Monclova Primary School, but we are always excited to welcome students new to Anthony Wayne Local Schools. FTMS shares a campus with Anthony Wayne Junior High and Anthony Wayne High School, facilitating close relationships across buildings.
Outstanding Instructors & Caring Counselors
Our award-winning faculty and staff support the transition from the community primary schools to the AWLS Campus by offering opportunities that emphasize a partnership between school and home. All of our instructors are Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT)-certified and strive to teach the whole child with a focus on providing students a challenging, engaging, rewarding, and fun educational experience while supporting their social and emotional needs. A broad range of services is available for gifted students and those with special needs.
The Fallen Timbers counseling team assists students with their executive functioning skills and provides compassionate support for their individual needs. We prepare sixth-graders to transition to Anthony Wayne Junior High School through curriculum alignment and school counselor collaboration between buildings
Culture of Competence
Together with our community, we identified a list of characteristics and skills Anthony Wayne students should attain and demonstrate to help them become successful in our ever-changing world. Our community-developed Portrait of a General encourages our students to embrace a learner's mindset, and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility, empathy, communication and collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
Collaboration and Communication
We are fortunate to have active and engaged families who work collaboratively with our school staff to create a collaborative culture of hard work, enthusiasm for learning and kindness. Thanks to the Anthony Wayne Parent Teacher Association (AWPTA), our students have increased access to innovative educational experiences. We invite all families to partner with us to maintain an inspiring and positive educational experience, and encourage open communication to support student progress and success.
